Hello, blog readers!
Here I'd been wondering what to post on the blog, because I wanted to post SOMETHING. I had been planning to go with "Hi. I like soup. Do you like soup?" However, that seemed a bit dull, so I perused the Cask of Blog forum, and lo! A Question of the Day was suggested, and I saw that it was good.
That said, daily seems like I'd get a bit strained after a few weeks, and so I plan to make this a weekly thing.
So far, the question I've been asked the most is "Hi! How's the new job?", and the answer is, briefly, "awesome".
Less briefly, I really am loving it. I've enjoyed hanging around on docks with people I probably would never have met otherwise, hanging out on That Ocean I Used To Play On. You're all very friendly! The other OMs have been very helpful when I come across something and run screaming. ("Arteeeemiiiiis! What do I doooooooo?"). So far I think I'm doing pretty well. This is not to say that I haven't booched, because I have, in one case rather spectacularly, but fortunately I got called on it very quickly and shown how to fix it.
The oddest thing is that things I used to be absolutely certain of as a player, I'm now not certain about, because suddenly I have to be absolutely correct, and make sure I only give out public information. People are relying on me to give them the right answer, and it's like an exam from when I was in school - I could be completely certain that, for instance, Cleopatra was one of the Ptolemies, and then I'd see it on the exam and *poof*. Doubt. So forgive me if I'm taking a little while longer to answer questions - I'm checking my answer. I'm confident in my ability to do the job. I just want to spend that little bit of extra time to make sure I get it right.
Next time on QOTW: Tantalizing Personal Information.

Also, glad you're enjoying the job! I know one of the new OMs chatted with me the night Midnight died and said something along the lines of, "I'd like it better if the server didn't crash on my graveyard shift!." (now you can all guess which one that was)
But hey, it's like any new job - you're going to mess up, it's going to be shaky...but within a month, nothing really fazes you.

Hot and sour soup is good in most places, the trick is finding a place that will actually make it hot and sour. >.>

I'm having serious forum withdrawals here...
Gaea, i have no idea who came up with mustard soup. But it's not a completely uncommon flavor here. Common enough at least to be an available flavor of soup in the supermarket. But still... yuck. As for ketchup soup, that would just be tomatosoup. ;)

Ever had "omlette suppe"? Oma's specialty, and it's not really omlettes, it's crepes (thin pancakes) sliced up into small strips.

What the hell happened to allow the security of the Y!PP forums to be breached, is there/was there any danger of personal information being leaked from the loophole, and why were the forums not taken down as soon as adult and vastly inappropriate images were posted?

As for why it took a while for the forums to go down, i'm guessing the hacker removed the OOO people as admins, so it probably involved calling a dev out of bed, that dev going to the office, or the location where the servers are, and disconnecting the forums from there. But again, just guessing.
What i personally am wondering, is there like a vague idea how long it will be until we get the forum back. Not to be impatient, i know you're all working on it, and i'm not trying to push you guys, but if you think it's going to be a long time, then i'd know i don't have to bother checking every day. So just saying i'd love to know if you guys have any idea, roughly, if you happened to have time to pop by here. Either way, appreciating all the effort, and good luck with the mess.

Good luck getting the forums up...I know you're dealing with a lot of addicts having withdrawal...we're not easy to deal with. :P
