Greetings, Bloggerpudlians. (Hi, Liverpool!) It seems we've reached our tenth anniversary! Cake all round. And rum, of course, made into fruity drinks to celebrate the new foraging puzzle on Ice, which is the reason this blog wasn't posted half an hour ago. So shiny and full of monkeys! Sparkly crates of limes! That's definitely worth a drink with an umbrella in it, and possibly a humorous plastic sword with a cherry stuck on the end.
For the tenth anniversary, I thought I'd do something a bit special. I've got something in mind, but it's not quite ready yet, so watch this space! In the meantime, a follow-up to a previous post. "Hey, Gaea! Do you have a doll YET?!" The more astute among you will have noticed that Cronus and I are the only Oceanmasters without a picture of our doll on the YPPedia. Theoretically, this is because none have been given out yet and thus they're not actually in the game. In actual fact, I have handed one out, to Maert on Hunter who won the VoodoOM contest - she just hasn't logged in since! I also have several in my own trinket collection, just because I think it's adorable.
What this means, oddly, is that players have now given me more dolls than I've given them, which is a shame. (This will hopefully change shortly. I have some diabolical schemes in mind.)
I've actually, aside from the VoodoOM event, been give two dolls so far. One is currently in the mail, heading to me, according to an email I recently received, via two completely different parts of the world as it accidentally got mailed to a different OM first, who is kindly forwarding it to me. When she arrives, I'll take a picture for you! The second, I've been given permission to post in this entry by its maker.
A little background - when I was all shiny(er) and new(er), I spent quite a lot of time on the docks, talking with people, exploring the oceans I was less familiar with (like most people, I had a couple of oceans I spent most of my time on, with token pirates on the others), and generally making merry. One gentleman on Sage was appalled to find out I didn't have a doll yet, and when I explained that one had not yet been designed, he informed me in no uncertain terms that he would design me on, and then asked me what my favorite colors were. Sure enough, on April 11th, there's an email in my inbox, containing the first-ever depiction Gaea-the-OM by a pirate, and it completely made my week. (I may have shown it to several people. "Look! Someone drew me a picture! How cool is THAT?", and, for the record, I still have that reaction every time someone draws something pretty.) So here is My First Doll, as drawn by Intocars of Sage.
As you can see, she's adorable.
Next week, on QOTW Eleven: Summation.
