A Rhy Note
As an OM I'll tell you this
No matter which festivities you throw
Always people will boo and hiss
"This isn't my favorite game, you know.
I only see tournaments of THIS type
I never see tournaments that I want
The other puzzles get all the hype
My neglected puzzle is left to haunt
The inns, unwanted and loved by none."
Drinking, treasure drop, and swordfighting too
Rumble included, I make every one
Only to have sad pirates hiss and boo
And send me the sad tells that they have no fun.
Heh, I really like putting up tournaments actually, but it never fails. You put up one of any type and you get the following tells: "Why is it always X? I NEVER see Y!" "Why is it always Y?! I NEVER get to play Z tournaments!!" "WHY WHY WHY WITH THE Z WHERE TEH SCUPPER IS THE LOVE FOR A" - I figure this is because the people who like the puzzle are all busy joining the tournament and playing.
This was inspired by some poetry-petitioning folks on Malachite, for whom I felt I would be remiss if I didn't try to write some verse back, however appalling.

I always thought it'd be neat to have better documentation of random OM created tournaments.
Mostly because I DO want to know if people complaining are suffering memory bias or if there is indeed a definite tendency to certain tournament settings.
And then in the case of "not" I can just point them to a list proving it so so they'll stop whining.

I really agree here. I know you can't please everyone, but really.. Why can't the people who don't like it keep there mouths shut?

The poetry was sent due to my crew being bored. So we felt like trying to cheer up the OM's by sending them love poetry. And yes one night I had a horrible blunder that Hypnos was so kind to show to Cephalopod. I have never been so embarassed in my life. I'm still horrified over it ><

Just so everyone knows, the person who sent in the petition did not mean to make it sound like he was commplaining. He even told Hypnos how appreciative he was for what she was doing. Also, everyone point and laugh at Fable who booched her petition and appluade Hypnos for sending an awesome reply.

I don't know about other folks, but I do a pretty simple pattern: I rotate between swordfighting, rumble, treasure drop, and drinking. I have a little list in a text file of random OM stuff and put a ticky mark next to the last tournament I threw and just go through the loop.

No matter what ocean it is, this happens. Everyone likes to bitch and moan about something, this is just the easiest because it's most noticeable at once. No one considers what is on when they're not - they don't even bother to ask.
So, my dear Hypnos, let everyone have their tantys - and go on being your usual generous self.
Most of us out there realise the time and effort it takes to actually bother to make a tourney, let alone multiples, or regular ones.
