A Little Monkey Business
Monkeys seem to be the theme of this release!
In addition to the petulant piece rearranging monkey in the new Foraging Puzzle, we've also added something of a rogue element to the Seas. Henceforth, certain Pirate ships will find themselves facing off against vessels filled with hungry simians. I know! Crazy monkey on Pirate ship action! It's armageddon!
The Pirate community at large will be relieved to note that these voracious monkeys have so far limited themselves to flinging cannon shot. They have also shown a preference for vessels that have already shown themselves ready for heated battle, so they should not interfere with the pillaging activities of the average Pirate.
For those wondering why a ship full of monkey's might be warranted on the Ocean, the answer is fairly simple: From time to time, wily Pirates hit on ways to earn their loot without facing a challenge or two. Monkeying with the game in this way is, of course, an entirely Piratey thing to do. But we don't want those Pirates losing their edge! Rather than putting further limits on the comings and goings of this crew or that, we thought something a little more fun might do the trick. Who doesn't love the prospect of crossing swords with a band of angry monkeys?

I heard mention it had something to do with PvP pirates. If you pvp often enough, the monkey ship might make an appearance. Last I heard Ice was getting the silver cannon and now it's on viridian, so I assume this update will be spreading to the oceans soon.

Okay, monkeys can fight now? That's cool. Very cool. But one thing - what about people with monkey familiars? If we're going to be attacked by monkeys, I want my monkey familiar to turn into a DEMON MONKEY whenever I'm in a fight.
To be fair, a parrot could peck people in the face, and an octopus could squirt ink in their eyes. I don't know what the seahorse could do, but I'm sure he'd have a great super-secret attack combo. Like that little ninja in the white suit in the Simpsons who pulls off a massive attack when no-one's looking. Let's make all the familiars useful!
What? What do you mean my familiar's just for show? You mean I can't train my monkey to kill a pirate with a skillfully launched coconut at their head?
Sigh.

I don't like the new foraging puzzle.... it was designed to mess with all the people who have been foraging, but us other merchants are really being hurt by all the lost labor, all my orders are stuck in queue with nobody working on them!
Why are you punishing us merchants who don't forage?
Maybe you could separate the labor hours and forage hours into two categories.

I Found out!! Heads up !! To get the monkeys to attack you.. You have to be active in pvping I'm told by the OM's. Sounds like not only I like alittle fear on the seas! Lets hope they pay well for the non paying PVPers! Harrrr More Supplys!! I'll say sorry now to all you non allied flag and crew members on the seas but .... It's a pirates life for me!

Why is everything so damn exspensive to purchase on this game. it definatly obligates players to feel like they need to purchae doublins with credit card just to get a step up in the game. again the rich get rich and the poor get poorer. this game surely reminds me of the economy. I don't initate any pvps. I was transporting a load of wood on a cutter, alone, and was attacked by monkeys-- before i even read about them! As I recall the boat didn't have a 'tag' indicating a bot boat.
Yeah, not fun to sf (I think) a monkey boat 4 against 10 or 12. sigh.

Having said the previous, Three Rings does actually allow you to play for absolutely nothing, and it is quite possible to do this. If you work at learning the puzzles, and at understanding the economy, you will be able to have everything you could want...all with out ever buying a doubloon. I have done it myself. Perhaps if you learn to understand the PP economy it will help you to understand the real world one, and make your life all the better for it. After all, if you won a hard earned monkey...would you like the makers of PP to tell you to sell it for 50k only? Or would you prefer to get as much for it as someone was willing to pay? Funny thing about the monkeys, they attacked one of our ships while we were having team races and battling contests between our own crew members. Seems the monkeys mistook our two ships running together as something much bigger, or not. Too bad it wasn't my ship I would've appreciated the experience. LOL
