A pictures says it all!
Master Greenbones here is modeling the latest color to be added to Puzzle Pirates, the mysterious Cursed Isle indigo.
Indigo conquered all before it with just shy of seven thousand votes in our poll.
But what's that on Mr. Greenbones shoulder, you say? Well, we hope it be obvious! Greenbones is also modeling his newest and most prized possession, the serpent familiar!, his prize for such a well chosen color.
Stand back. That beastie looks hungry.
Serpent familiars will be awarded to the holders of pirate tickets with the next release. Several events will also be held over the coming weeks with the familiar as the prize.
Be on the lookout for this scaly beast coming to an Island near you, mates! And get ready to sail yerself to the Cursed Isles and get in on all that serpentine, indigo action.

I am sad. Not at the new color nor the familiar, but at how unappreciative a number of players of this game are. The developers and arrrtists likely spent a lot of time in the thought process and implementation of these products. Sure, you may not think it is a good idea, and yes, everyone has the right of speech, but please keep those unkind thoughts to yourself. I like it. The more familiars the merrier. Furthermore, all this talk of ugly is a little silly. First off, none of the portraits with animals in them do the animals justices. I definitely think the example shown could have been better with a little contrast /e is blinded by the indigo. Will indigo be the only/initial color the serpents come in? I do think they are kind of cute although I know I will never be fortunate enough to own one. I did vote for the Orange Red Combination and hope it does show up at the tailor or in the paint shop to paint boats. :) Also, as with most familiars there is generally a difference from the poses available to a female vs male...I want to know what the female portrait version looks like!

Personally I think it's too close to the atlantean colour, and we had enough blue and purple stuff in the game. These were why I chose the orange-red. (That it it made me think of the cursed isles) I did consider the indigo, but I can't see myself wearing it in pride.

With all the comments on the forums about Orange/red I was very surprised that Indigo won. Apparantly supports of said Orange/Red are just more vocal than those of us that voted for Indigo. I do like the snake but I'm courious to know if it is a two tone familiar like the Parrot or a single color. The one with greenbones looks to be Indigo/White.

The viper looks as a sock puppet at the first glance but then you notice its body around pirate neck and it starts to look as a true viper. Maybe the tail tip could be visible somewhere too. I suppose it would look much better on pirate without a beard and if the serpent had different colours then clothing.
The pattern could be improved too - instead of "wormish" stripes it should be some sort of spots like those of Anaconda. Yea, I can imagine that black/orange or light green/gold viper could looks really cool.

The phrase indigo conquered all befire it is a bit of overkill as there was only one colour before it and many (myself included) believe there are already too many blue/purple type colours (aqua, blue, atlantean,lavander, violet, purple).
I love the idea of a snake it was better than anything I could come up with though I am not certain about the artwork, guess it might grow on me.
It also appears that the snake can be won in competitions and will not be limited to CIs which is nice.
Is the snake a 2 colour familiar with greenbones sporting indigo / white or will all snakes have the white.

To be honest, the colour indigo will look great with the mint I'm almost always wearing. I voted for the red/orange as well but this colour is wonderful too. Yeah. It is quite sad that people playing this game that didn't get chosen by RANDOM are now being tarts about how the familiar sucks because they didn't get one. I bet every poe in my pocket that if you complainers out there had the new familiar you wouldn't be complaining and you would be thanking OOO instead. I think this was a lovely event, and update to the game. It shows how not just elites can get prizes and familiars, but how new players and us 'middle class' pirates can get 'hold of these magnifcant creatures! I thank you OOO for making this possible and more importantly, fun! :)
